Volvo electrification plan recognized by the United Nations

Earlier this year Volvo announced plans to have all our models with an electric option by 2019. The United Nations has taken notice of the effort naming Volvo as a LEAD member in the Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.

That's a long way of saying that Volvo Cars is taking a leadership role in make our planet cleaner. Volvo Cars is one of only two automakers to be a LEAD member of the Global Compact. As part of its strategy, Volvo plans to launch five fully electric vehicles between 2019-2021.

Special edition 2018 V90 Cross Country sales to aid Ocean Race Science Program

Protecting our Oceans has long been a key concern of environmental programs. The Volvo Ocean Race measures the health of our Oceans by taking measurements of the temperature, algae and weather patterns. Volvo will support the effort of the Volvo Ocean Race Science program by producing 3,000 special edition 2018 V90 Cross Country vehicles with a portion of the sale price to be donated.

Volvo XC60 named SUV of Texas

Texas is a testing ground for trucks and SUVs. If an SUV can perform in Texas both on road and off road, it can perform in Cincinnati. At the Texas Truck Rodeo last month, the 2018 Volvo XC60 was picked for one of three top awards, Best SUV of Texas.

The XC60 also won awards for Best Connectivity and Best Powertrain by the auto writers of the Texas Auto Writers Association. The group evaluated 64 vehicles over a two-day period in Texas, and the Volvo XC60 surprised many with its handling and toughness.
